Possessly User Guide

A practical guide to the current free limited version on Google Play.

What Possessly is

Possessly is a local-first Android app for organizing home and personal assets, warranty dates, reminders, photo attachments, exports, and local backups. It does not require an account and does not use cloud sync in the current version.

Quick start

  1. Install Possessly from Google Play.
  2. Open the app — the dashboard shows a summary of your records.
  3. Use the bottom navigation to move between Home, Assets, Reminders, and Settings.
  4. Add your first asset from the Assets tab.

Add your first asset

From the Assets tab, tap add and enter details such as name, category, purchase date, and notes. Save the record to see it in your asset list. Open an asset anytime to view or edit it.

Track warranty status

When you add warranty start and end dates on an asset, Possessly shows status such as active, expiring soon, or expired. The dashboard can show an expired-warranty count. On the Assets screen, use warranty filters to narrow the list.

Create reminders

Open the Reminders tab to add reminders for warranty follow-ups, maintenance, or custom dates. Reminders are stored locally. Enable notifications on your device if you want platform alerts where supported.

Attach photos

From an asset detail screen, add photo attachments when you choose images from your device. Only attach images you are comfortable storing locally on the device.

Export data

From Settings, open Export Data to create PDF, CSV, or JSON files from your local records. Exports are saved on your device. Export history lists files the app has written. Use Share when you want to send a file to another app you choose.

Create a backup

From Settings → Backup & Restore, create a backup file (`.possessly-backup.json`). Save the file outside the app — for example to cloud storage or another device — before uninstalling or resetting your phone.

Restore a backup

After installing Possessly, open Backup & Restore, choose restore, and select your backup file. Restore replaces local app data after you confirm — it is not a merge. Review the on-screen warning before proceeding.

Troubleshooting

Google Play will not update my install

If you previously installed a debug or sideloaded build, signing may differ from the Play Store release. Create a backup first, then uninstall the old build and install from Google Play, or use a clean device.

Data missing after reinstall

Without a backup or export saved outside the app, local data may not survive uninstall or clear-data. Restore from a backup file if you have one.

Reminders not alerting

Check that notifications are allowed for Possessly in your device settings and that battery optimization is not blocking alerts.
